Guinea Pig Zero

Proud Collector

Peggy and I first met when we were about five or six years old. All through elementary, junior high, and high school we were in the same classes. we lived about a mile apart. I stopped to visit with her on my way home from my nephew's wedding.

Here is Peggy showing me two of her "pig boards," or cutting boards in the shape of pigs. The rest of them are behind her on a shelf, waiting to be displayed somehow in her apartment, where space is precious. She's been collecting them for some time.

Many of the boards have holes where the tail curls around, while others don't. A few even have holes for the eyes. The board at right dates from the 1930s.

Peggy is a cool lady who chose a cool thing to collect.
