The gift that withstood time

I took this during the Doors Open Day event at the Magdelen Chapel, one of the oldest buildings in Edinburgh. Several walls of the tiny room were covered with these plaques which mark donations made to the chapel.

I wonder when the donors made their gifts, if they realised people would still be reading about it 350 years later?
