Bright and Breezy!

Lovely day, bright and breezy, a proper autumnal day. The overspill from the garden, which I have planted out on the foreshore, is doing really well. The golden rod is flowering, as are the little asters and the ubiquitous crocosmia! Some folk get very sniffy about it, but it does give a good splash of colour and it's easy enough to dig out so long as you catch it before it starts taking over! I keep a very tight rein on it in the garden as it tends to lurk in the base of the stone wall.

Spent the morning stock taking in the shop, but many hands made light work and we were done in a couple of hours. Took stock of the greenhouse in the afternoon. Chucked out the tomato plants and did a bit of tidying up. There is definitely an end of the season feel to everything. The John O'Groats ferry has done its last crossing of the year and so the pontoon has appeared back in the bay for the winter. It shelters here until May when the crossing start again, and in the meantime is used as a roost for all manner of gulls and other sea birds.
