Monday: Filling Up In Winthrop

After a hearty breakfast in Kelowna, we hit the road again.  We drove through some amazing scenery and, significantly, have crossed the border into the US.  

We had an interesting, and slightly entertaining, border crossing.  As you may know UK citizens are entitled to the US visa waiver programme and do not need visas........unless you are entering somewhere tiny like Oroville, which is where we crossed the border.  Having said that, it wasn't really a problem and we just had to go through some additional formalities before being allowed to enter.   Our Immigration Officer was also an incredible Anglophile and a long discussion about London and Portobello Market also helped.

The best quote was the guy in front of us in the queue whose immortal line was 'Do I have to declare all my criminal convictions?'.

Anyway, we are now comfortably ensconced in Winthrop, WA, a fantastic western style town (see picture of local garage) and home to award winning craft beers!
