Fruit from rain
We donned our rain gear to hunt for chanterelles again amid the sometimes heavy showers. Besides the chanterelles the forest floor is dotted with a plethora of other fungi, some more intriguing than others. This one caught my eye; it had a nice purplish hue and a distinct white edging. The storm is finally moving away. The September rain records were shattered (normally 1.47 inches, this year almost 7 inches in downtown Portland). Some people are still without power from the fallen trees and limbs on power lines. I'll employ my little helpers tomorrow to clean our yard of all the fallen branches and debris.
