Darby and Joan

The "welcoming committee" on the way into the village of Pattingham. Over the weekend the village held a scarecrow festival.with dozens of scarecrows adorning street corners, front lawns, fields and benches.

It was a sight to behold but unfortunately things were spoilt somewhat when a very large (i.e. 20 ft high) straw teddy bear was set light to last night in a field on the edge of the village. Yet another example of thoughtless, wanton vandalism.
