West coast
Headed through to the West today with our Irish visitor - after the premiere & museum yesterday, some further cultural activities (with my dulcet tones providing a never ending guide to the areas we passed through...).
Visited Rozelle House & Maclaurin Galleries in South Ayrshire, and had a lovely tour and lunch with colleague from the Council. It's a lovely place, in beautiful grounds. Then headed off up the coast, through Craft Town Scotland to Greenock for a stop-off at the Beacon, which was stunning as always, particularly as we caught a peek at Scottish Opera rehearsing Rhodelinda. Amazing! This is a different view of the Beacon, this is the side that looks onto the Clyde. Time for tea and cake before heading back through to Edinburgh. A very inspiring day, which left our visitor with much to mull over on her trip home.
Unfortunately, we hit football traffic on the way back to Edinburgh, crawled along the bypass, and I discovered just how difficult is it to find a parking space anywhere near my flat when there's a game at Easter Road. I eventually gave up, went for a drive & then to the supermarket until the game ended and spaces appeared. TWO HOURS LATER!
