The cut

Had a lovely afternoon, taking advantage of the Hertforshire "Open Studio" weekend to visit Siobhán Doran at her home, where she had opened up her garden shed workshop to the public.

I first met Siobhan when she came to give a talk at my local photographic society. She trained as an architect so, not surprisingly, she specialises in architectural photography and produces some wonderful pictures. One of her most successful series of photographs was of the 3 year reconstruction of the Savoy Hotel in London. Her pictures were exhibited at a solo exhibition and published in a book, and will be the basis of a talk she is giving shortly at Foto Industria Bologna.

She made us very welcome and, afterwards, my wife and I went for a stroll along the canal which runs along the back of her home. We didn't get far before we chanced upon a pub, so had to stop for a quick drink. This might explain the less than perfect results in this quickly assembled HDR.

("Cut" refers to the artificially cut canal, and to the effects of alcohol.)
