Whoosh!
And just like that, the weekend is nearly over! Making today's choice of a blip kind of easy.
We slept in, then went to our favorite NYC diner for breakfast, back to the hotel, then off to pick up our car at the lot. I took this while we were walking down to 1st Avenue to pick up the car. I've always loved Sunday mornings in NY, especially on the East Side, which is where I lived. I took some other shots with motion blur (you know I love playing with motion!) three of which are posted on Flickr, starting here.
Last night we met some friends up in the East 80s for dinner at a great German restaurant - good time, good food, good company. And, after dinner, we walked the 40 blocks back to our hotel - a nice way to work off a bit of the meal.
We were staying at the Barclay, which is near the UN and was apparently the host hotel for the Pakistani Prime Minister and a number of other dignitaries this week. The hotel was totally surrounded by Secret Service and NYPD and you had to pass through security to get into the lobby. They were moving the PM when we got back last night so the entire block was locked down - I'd forgotten how crazy things can get when the UN is in session! Lots of men with ear wires and cheap dark suits with scary bulges at the hip!
Thank you for all the comments, hearts and stars on my street scene yesterday - what a surprise! So glad you enjoyed the shot. Seems that many of you are also lovers of street/urban art, as am I. It is very cool that the NYC officials and the High Line folks are actually supporting and encouraging street artists to do murals like this. The name of the street artist who did this particular mural of the iconic V-Day embrace is Eduardo Kobra.
Well, back at home in the quiet country. Going to make a big fresh veggie salad for dinner tonight, hoping to make up for some of the decadence we indulged in this weekend.
Happy Sunday!
