Bateman's.

The beautiful home of Rudyard Kipling.
We stopped off here for a last visit, before coming home, and we were so glad we did.
It is a 17th century country house, where he went to live in 1902, to recover from the death of his oldest daughter three years before. He lived there for the last 34 years of his life. Not only is the house cosy, and filled with relics of his life, but the grounds are a real treat. They slope down to a watermill on the River Dudwell.
This is the lily pond, close to the house, and if you look closely you can see the gold fish, tumbling together to catch the sun. An amazing sight that I have never seen before.
