Le Cap de Carteret
A misty start to the day but it gradually lifted and was hot and sunny by lunchtime.
We drove up to the lighthouse at the Cap de Carteret and had a look over the cliffs and along the bay. We realised there was a path that ran around the cap and on to the next beach and so we drove back to the port and tried to find the start of the walk.
Hidden behind a line of beach huts, we managed to pick up the start of the walk. It took us close to the cliff edge and round the cap onto the beach and dunes on the other side. The views were amazing and there were so many butterflies fluttering around. We paddled for a mile or so up the beach and then turned round and retraced our steps. Beautiful empty beach and lovely clean sand and sea. There were lots of birds around - not sure if the large dark ones were cormorants or shags - and there were lots of little waders - possibly sanderlings.
