Riverside Murals

Daylight saving started at 2.am this morning. “Fall back” for the end of Daylight Saving and “Spring Forward” for the start. So I set an extra alarm clock last night just in case my iPhone did not change over to the new time. We have been busy during the day putting various clocks and time-keepers forward by one hour.
When I was a child we had a clock in the big kitchen. It was an alarm clock with big metal bell-like parts on the top. My father used it for his alarm clock so it would disappear from kitchen when he went to bed. We had a black marble clock in the living room and another old black marble clock in the “front “room. It did not work. My mother had a wrist watch and my father had a pocket watch. Not one of us kids had a watch until we went to secondary school.
Times have changed. I have lost count of just how many clocks, watches and time-keepers we have in our house now. We have a list just for fun and it has totalled to over 20 timekeepers and we are still counting…
This morning I and some friends went on a long walk…for exercise …and fun. About half the distance was on footpaths along long streets. The rest was along the lower Taylor River Tracks and paths. We ended up at Riverside Park in down-town Blenheim after walking over 10 kilometres. We finished the morning’s walk at the Raupo Café on the banks of the river. I photographed today’s blip as we neared the end of our trek. These murals brighten up the walls of some old buildings alongside the river.
