Not so cloudy

We were promised a cloudy day, and so the day began. We headed north and found the cloud did not extend very far up the lake, the temperature quickly climbed to 28 degrees. Heading around the lake and through many tunnels we stopped at Varenna. Here not only did we find a break in the cloud but it was positively warm and sunny.

We spent an hour or so at the beach soaking up the rays and later took the car ferry over to Menaggio. No drama on the ferry front today.

While there was no cloud to speak of the haze continues. There is very little wind, not even enough to ruffle the flag we see from the terrace. We will wait to see if this leads to the thunder storms we are still being forecast for tomorrow.

The picture is taken at "Villa Monastero" a museum, ancient monastery and patrician home, of which the garden is probably the most famous attraction. Unfortunately we did not have time on this occasion to visit the garden or museum.

Varenna is very popular for weddings, we observed people attending two weddings, one group we noticed had come from Ireland.
