White Salmon River

Two years ago this fall, Condit dam on the White Salmon was removed and the river allowed to flow free once again. Almost immediately salmon that once were blocked were able to travel upstream to spawn and the river began to retake its floodplain.

You can still see the water marks from the reservoir on the valley wall but the native vegetation is taking hold and in 5 years the site will hardly resemble the lake the river once was.
