Walks for Manorlands
In memory of Ruth Jagger.
Manorlands is a local Sue Ryder home and this Saturday walk has become an annual event in our village. One of the organisers lost his daughter to cancer some years ago, he is an avid walker and also organises the Harden hard'un.
It is called walks for Manorlands as you can walk 5, 10 or 16 miles, starting from Harden Cricket club. They are also known as the red and white tape walks and if you look carefully you may be able to spot the way marking red and white tape in this shot.
I'm afraid I only did the 5 mile walk but most of our group (12) did 10. We climbed to the hamlet of Ryecroft and on to the moor ( near to where we walked yesterday). Through the woods to Keighley Road and across into the St Ives estate which is where you see us here.
Passed Lady Blantyre's Rock and up to the track that skirts the estate to Altar Lane. Here we split from the 10 milers and returned to the Cricket Pavillion for tea and yummy cakes!
10 miles (maybe) next year!
