Oh feathers!
Another day of reviewing documents, dozens of emails, and many phone calls. But, I was able to resolve several issues successfully in my negotiations, so that felt good. My clients' are happy, and that is good too.
Before it got too late, I took a short drive over to the university and walked around the small lake taking pictures of the late afternoon light on the lake and surrounding buildings. I even got a few of the resident swans.
But as I came around the corner there were two mallards standing on the rocks cleaning and preening. One was a young male and the other a young female. I snapped off a few shots of them ruffling their feathers, dunking their heads and ruffling some more. The young male was very flamboyant in his cleaning. I imagined that he was trying to impress the lady nearby. My last shot of the two of them was this one. After all of his ruffling, he ends up with feathers in his mouth.
I was thinking of the time when I was a young college student on a date. It was my first date with this certain young man. He was trying so hard to impress me. He took me to an elegant restaurant, and regaled me with his exploits. At the end of dinner, he turned to me to ask if I would go out with him again. There, right between his two front teeth, was a piece of something green. I just started laughing. He looked so bewildered. It took a few minutes between laughs, but I told him about his teeth. He was mortified, excused himself and went to the bathroom. When he came back, I apologized, between chuckles, and told him I would go out with him again. Many months later I married him.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
