At Bramptons Abbotts: Under the old oak tree...x
Whenever we walk from home, we always seem to magnate towards the old oak tree. I don't know whether its the curvaceous branches welcoming you under her. Or maybe its because she is symbol of strength, standing strong and tall on the horizon.
Best friends Beau and Bertie sat under her bowed branches this evening. Their laughter radiated around the old oak. I always think about how many conversations this tree has over heard. She's a snooper in that regard. Always listening.
We turned to leave. Beau asked Andrew, 'can I ride on your back?' Perhaps thinking he was one step closer to the branches of the old oak. He sat hitched like a limpet to Andrews back. Sat still, safe and content. Attached momentarily to the perspective of an adult. Contained and safe.
It's a calming feeling sitting under an old tree. Friendships like Beaus and Bertie's is as as strong as that old oak. Its felt their laughter tickle its branches. Its felt the children's fingertips held up high brushing through the leaves. I am sure that Andrew is not the first to hold a child high to greet this tree in this way. He won't be the last either.....x
