Another Blip in the Wall

I spent the afternoon rummaging around some hidden corners of the village, which proved fruitful for both butterflies and bricks.

Stairfoot is a district of Barnsley, and former home to the brick works that spawned this brick, before it found its way to a narrow strip of land between the River Aire and Charlestown Cemetery. Further along, a spoil heap threw up remnants of more bricks, which led to jigsaw matching of my pictures of bits of brick and the online archive curated by Dave Sallery.

As for butterflies, Hallcliffe Community Garden had a few Small Tortoiseshell, Speckled Wood and a single Comma. The cemetery had another tortoiseshell, and the river bank threw up more Speckled Wood, another Comma, a Small White and a Peacock.

Second in an occasional series of brick blips.
