The idle eye

new life

Earlier this year a fox culled a proportion of our bantam flock.
In July our daughter, as a birthday present, bought 5 new bantam chicks for my wife.
Subsequently a couple of the bantams went broody and produced two chicks.
Later another two went ditto and we found that we had three more.
Lupin, the lavender bantam cockerel, had apparently been more active that we had realised.
Yesterday the daughter discovered that another two of the bantam hens had hatched TEN more chicks.
Here are some of them on their first day out in the open.
