Between fen and mountains

Sun up

Our valley is a bowl shape. There are many smaller, steeper sided valleys which have far less sunshine. I visited friends recently and left when the sun went over the ridge. The sun was still shining an hour and a half later back home. It a consideration some people forget when choosing a house. The sun comes from behind Canigou at about 9am and it is its shadow moves down to the hills opposite. The activity of the village seems to wake up in sympathy.

I picked more of those black, red centred, succulent, sweet fleshed fruit today (I promised not to mention their name again!) and will have to deal with them tomorrow. I cut a few more bunches of grapes while I was about it. They will grace the table tonight as we have friends coming round. I should get the car back later and that will be jobs done for the day.
