Fungus gills
I'm starting to get back into checking all the fungal shapes and features more carefully as well as using taste and smell to narrow down the identification to genus or (sometimes!) species. I need to get into a better routine of checking spores size, shape and colour with a microscope. In this case - a species of Russula or Brittlegill - specific chemical tests can often be useful as well. If only I didn't have to learn everything again every autumn!
