Gormley statue in the river Thames

This statue is owned by a pub on the Thames called The Grapes, which has been there for circa 500 years. The Grapes is owned by a man called Sir Ian McKellen (although uncertain he has been the only owner in the pubs lifetime) who originally spotted it when visiting Antony Gormley's studio. The statue is a life-size figure of a man similar to those found on the Crosby beach in Liverpool and it becomes part-submerged when the ride is high. It stands on a 20 foot plinth and has been described as a fatherly figure. Blip over & out.
