Slow Down
First things first - I don't want to steal Angelique's music titles journal format but the photo on this Blip reminded me of the style of an LP (Breakaway) cover photograph from Kris Kristofferson & Rita Coolidge back in 1974, one of my evergreens mainly due to the memories asscociated with it. The original had horses instead of dogs and the slightly washed out colours were not only caused by the autumnal weather but the huge zoom I had to use plus a bit of trying out effects from the (free) software, Emmy recommended yesterday.
MrB came by midday with our lawn tractor mowing deck which he had repaired overnight, one of the brackets having broken in two places and a large hole in part of the thin metal covering. He has the skill and the equipment to weld such things. I can weld two very thick pieces of metal together, looks terrible but usually holds. The fine, neat work which he did, I could never do. Thanks Peter.
Just as he was about to leave, friends ABC & XYZ (Bliped once or twice before) from the Fürstenfeldbruck area (west of Munich) came to visit with their rescue dog K9 who is now about 8 months. Last time they were here, K9 & Luna got on well but K9 was still a little shy. This time, the two were as thick as thieves ("hielten wie Pech und Schwefel zusammen" for the Germans, literally translated as "stuck together like pitch and brimstone"). We later had to seperate them and lock Penny in the car for them to cool down - hence the title of this entry. Tonight Luna justs wants her peace & quiet, the noise of the keyboard has driven her out of the sitting room. I wonder if she will be able to move tomorrow.
After coffee & cake, we drove over to Katzbrui Mill for a walk (the photo), before returning for a quick early evening meal and then at 8:00 pm popping over to the grass drying "factory" to load two large sacks of grass pellets for their old horse Grappa who seems to be losing weight which is one of those age things but often complicated by difficulty in chewing (our Asyr is the same) The grass pellets tend to be easier to digest especially if pre-soaked in water. The factory is working full out until at least midnight. so armed with shovel & sacks the girls shoveled 100kg while ABC kindly held the sacks open and I agreed to photograph. On Flickr just for the record.
A beautiful Indian Summer (Altweibersommer) day and two exhausted dogs will sleep well. Ought to consider looking around for a rescue 1 year old border as company for Luna - might save on the shoe soles.
