There he was, gone

The evening the Pope officially opened the World Youth Day in Rio, we went down to the front to see if we could catch a glimpse of him passing. The crowd was at least 20 or 30 deep on each side of the road, and we got there a bit late to climb a tree (all spaces occupied), so the best I could do was hold a mobile up like everyone else. We could follow his progress by the position of the helicopters and the commentary from the big screens along the beach, He took his time, greeting many as he went, but was getting behind schedule so the Pope-mobile accelerated as he drew near and all I managed was the blurred splash of light top left.

They say the first miracle performed by Pope Francis in Brazil was to make Brazilians like an Argentine :-)
