Architecture of Nature

It has been a very busy day preparing the Mackintosh Church for a function this evening. The Royal Philosophical Society of Glasgow have arranged a special evening event which will include a talk on Mackintosh and the Church.

During the afternoon I managed to take a few images of the Frances Law Exhibition, "The Architecture of Nature".

The exhibition is part of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society's 40th anniversary celebrations. Law uses the inspiration of the building to create a sense of presence, spaciousness and flow in her work, drawing on the unseen and revealing the power and energy within natural forms. For both artists the act of creating is a process of looking both inside and outside and producing the forms, shapes, rhythms and concepts that speak to different parts of us and fill many spaces in ourselves. At the root of this work is a metamorphosis of light, the transformation of which leaves us with feelings of peace, tranquillity and restoration.

Law has exhibited extensively throughout the UK and internationally. In 2007 her work was represented at the Qi Bashi International Arts Festival in China as part of a Scottish/Chinese cultural exchange in 2008 she received 1st prize in the Scottish National Art Prize and in 2010 was shortlisted for the coveted Aspect Prize, which culminated in a prestigious exhibition at the Fleming Collection in Mayfair, London. Last year she had a very successful solo show at the Park Gallery in her hometown of Falkirk. She also has works in many public and private collections both at home and internationally.

The exhibition will be on view at The Mackintosh Church till the end of October.
