Arms Wide Open

Inside the entrance to St. Johns are two statues with arms wide open on which there rests a shell filled with water for making the sign of the cross before entering.

I love how the church keeps its door open to welcome brethren or passers-by seeking a little time for contemplation.

This statue always catches my attention on my morning walk. It's because of the way in which the light shines on the statue and how it is partially in light, partially in darkness. A message often heard in sermons don't you think?
