Experia Z1
Afternoon off work working from home as I had a delivery due, my shiny new phone! My days of frustration with Apple and iOS are finally over, I love some of the apps on the iPhone, especially the muso oriented ones but the OS itself I find truly awful at times. Despite everyone banging on about simplicity in the iPhone I find it seems to make everything that little bit more difficult than it should be. So I'll be on Sony's flavour of Android for the forseeable future. And what does this 5" beast of a phone have in its aresenal? 20.7 Mega pixel camera with a compact camera sized sensor (and as everyone knows it is sensor size that has the most basic difference to image quality) approximately twice the size of most other sensors in phones of this price bracket. The camera application also gives you access to a manual mode which is always a welcome addition. There is also image and video stabilisation and supposedly very good low light performance. Full HD display at 441ppi (a big step up from the 4S) with what Sony call Triluminous display and Bravia technology. I haven't wtched any movies on it yet but these technologies promise a wider colour rendering in the green and aqua spectrums (an area where traditional RGB displays fall short). Certainly applications I am used to have subtley different shades but at this point it is hard to tell if this is because it is better. And waterproof to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes in freshwater, so I can play Candy Crush in the bath without worrying if I drop the phone.
I had lunch with the guys from second job, despite me feeling my performance was somewhat lacking there were no complaints from their side of the table which was a relief. Final deadline is 4th October and after that I will have worked the hours they paid me for in advance way back when and then I either get paid some more or get my life back (secretly hoping for the get paid more option).
