Peace I ask of thee, O river...

Many years ago, actually so many I find it hard to believe, I went to summer camp on an island in the middle of the Susquehanna River near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. One of the favorite campfire songs that has stuck with me from my Girl Scout days begins, "Peace I ask of thee, O river, peace, peace, peace. When I learn to live serenely, cares will cease."

Tonight I went down to the river, just before dark, taking my tripod in the hope of capturing something good. This was the result. Unless there has been heavy rain and flooding, the river is a peaceful place, and this evening there were many people seeking that peace. The river can work a bit of magic at the end of a busy day. It did that for me tonight.

For a bit of peace, take a few minutes to listen to this high school chorus singing Peace I ask of thee....
