Not sure why I picked this photo today. Perhaps the overly blue sky? Who knows. One thing I did love about it though is how ethereal it looks, something Star Wars-ish maybe? Somehow it made me happy.
No time for recording today. Just work work work.
Revising Law today - not much intresting in it except for this story I wrote down that my teacher had told me.
Up until 1997 in the UK everyone had to swear on the Bible regardless of faith, race or religion. It begged the question what did people swear on before the Bible was printed to the masses?
Well my law teacher revealed all.
At this stage women were not allowed in court, much less testify in a court of law. So men swore on the thing most precious to them.. their balls. So hand on crotch they testified and swore to tell the truth.
That in itself is intresting, although the point of the story is to show the root of the word testify, testement etc etc. See what I'm getting at here? When people swore to tell the truth they were testifying whilst holding onto their testes.
(It could be argued that the world testes came from the Latin 'three' - the root of many of our common words, and both testify and testes came from that same root but developed diffrently. However, I'm inclinded to belive that its evolved from the court room, where men testified on their balls)
