Tradition

Day 2 in Bloomington traditionally begins with brunch at our favorite restaurant “Feast”, and this trip was no exception. Rob had Eggs Benedict with crab and I had this astonishing creation called a Tiganite – a cross between a waffle and a crepe filled with fresh peaches, raspberries, blueberries, coulis and lemon curd. No way in hell was I going to pass this up. And yes, it was delicious.

Next on the day’s agenda was a brisk walk along Bloomington’s “B-Line”, a 10-mile walking, running, skating, biking path through town. We didn’t do the entire 10 miles but hopefully we did enough to walk off some of the brunch. We stopped to watch a kids’ street fair complete with rock wall and some enthusiastic 6-year olds who made it to the top of the wall faster than I could focus my camera.

After that we decided to go to the movies in a local, beautifully restored movie theater originally built in 1929, with a brief stop at a nearby wine tasting. We saw “The Butler”. Actually, we only saw about 2/3 of it because something went terribly wrong with the projection and it abruptly ended. So, nobody tell me the ending.

Back home for pizza and ice cream and an evening watching the Emmys, an interesting diversion for me since I don’t have TV and don’t know one show from another. Who cares, it was a fun day and no matter what we do it’s fun being in Bloomington with Rob.
