Lonesome pine
Another fantastic day walking in Glen Einich in the Cairngorms, this time with my friends and their golden retriever Brodie.
The colours were superb today with the ferns lighting up the landscape with their yellow fronds beneath the tall Scots pines. As we walked higher the trees thinned out until we came across simply an occasional one standing proudly above the autumnal undergrowth. I just love the jaunty angular pose of the Scots Pine and found it difficult to choose between this shot and another of the colourful glacial valley but then remembered that i had blipped it about a month ago when I came up here with my friend M.
After walking for about two and a half hours we stopped for a picnic beside the sparkling river wending its way from a loch still higher above us down to the valley floor below. The dogs happily guddled in the water while we munched on our rolls although they had been lucky enough to find several water holes during the walk which they had frolicked in as if they were their own personal jacuzzis, so they had been able to keep themselves well refreshed.
We finished off the day with a delightful meal at The Old Bridge Inn at Aviemore and have now returned home with three very sleepy but happy canine friends.
When i came home it was to discover that my humble house fly had liked blip so much that he had alighted on the Spotlight page! What a surprise - and thank you.
