American Fruit
So many people think about the United States and its beautiful orchards of apples, pears, plums, peaches, etc, but fruit bearing trees did not exist within our nation until the early colonists arrived.
A National Geographic study of Jamestown revealed that prior to the European colonists, North America did not have earth worms nor fruit trees. Fruit trees did not exist because honeybees were not indiginous to the continent. It's been awhile since I've read the May 2007 article, but I believe it went something like that.
