Perspective

Mr U&l and I went for a little trip to the very beautiful Balcombe or Ouse Valley viaduct today.
According to Wikipedia :-
This viaduct built in 1841 is on the London to Brighton line north of Haywards Heath in West Sussex.
It is 1,475 feet (450m) long and 96 feet (29m) high, and carried on 37 semi circular arches each with a span of 30 feet and surmounted by ballustrades. Each pier contains a jack arch with a semi-circular soffit to reduce the number of bricks required.
11 million bricks were needed for it's construction, and they were brought to the construction site from Holland via Newhaven up the river ouse. It was designed by the engineer of the line John Urpeth Rastrick in association with the architect of the London to Brighton railway David Mocatta.
It cost £38,500 to build, is a Grade ll listed building, and has been described as probably the most elegant viaduct in Britain
Today's blip is the stunning view through the supporting brick piers, which always gives a strange sense of continuous perspective.
