It Can Drive You Batty

I'm afraid I have become addicted to the game of padel tennis.

It originated in Mexico, is played extensively in Latin America and has found great popularity in Southern Spain.

Particularly amongst Englishmen of a certain age.

Having not been any kind of a ball-game player in my youth, to discover that I can actually play this game is somewhat of a revelation.

You don't have to be talented or particularly skillful to start playing and having fun. But I have improved over the past six months and am becoming quite competitive.

Oh dear!

But first and foremost we play for fun and because our twice-weekly visits to Sotogrande Tennis Club are a pleasant social occasion.

And so it was this morning. The sun was pleasantly warm without being sweltering and we worked up a good lather and felt all the better for an hour and a half's running around the court.

Can't wait till Wednesday evening now!
