Making Hurdles
We had a day out at Castle Drogo today which is being renovated at great expense by the National Trust. Whilst the Castle is shrouded with scaffolding you can still look around the inside where you can see what work there are undertaking.
In the grounds today there were displays of rural skills and rides for the children and a Punch and Judy man. One of the National Trust staff displaying his skills at hurdle making was my son -in-law who is also a keen competitor in hedge laying competitions. His day job is working in the National Trust forestry plantations and if you watch Country File this evening you may see him in the background when the programmers feature an area of forest the NT has purchased in the Teign Valley. You may have noticed my little granddaughter who has slipped in to see her daddy!
