no twig too small

Happy first day of Fall!
As I was scanning the tree tops on our morning walk, hubby noticed this little Downy woodpecker working away on the lowest and smallest branch. Two bird watchers are always better than one!
I'm used to hearing the hammering of woodpeckers before I see them, but this was a silent job.
It was comical to watch this little guy bobbing on the twig as he pounded away at it. I hope he found a good breakfast for all his effort.
