Miniature aubergine

I'm not sure how to tell whether aubergines are ripe or not. My little aubergines that were not supposed to grow huge in the first place are now about the size of a golf ball or even smaller, but they are deep and dark purple in colour.

I thought I'd try one and it seems that though small, they should be pretty much perfect in just a few days.

Here's hoping that the weather forecast is wrong and the temperatures will stay way above zero for a few more nights still.
