Mission to Lars

This is my son, Jared, watching the documentary film 'Mission to Lars'. The film is about Tom Spicer, a man who has Fragile X syndrome, a rare condition on the Autistic Spectrum.

Tom's brother and sister take him to America to help him to meet his hero, Lars Ulrich, the drummer from Metallica. The main drive for Jared to watch this film, was his own love of Metallica.

I love Metallica too, a double decade love and my first heavy metal heroes. This film doesn't really focus on them as a band, but the relationship between Tom and his siblings.

My favourite part of the film is watching Jared absorb the content and projection of the film, with no "when are Metallica on?" outbursts befitting his age.

"How do you feel about this film Jared?"
"Cool, it's very touching
."

This kid's human focus is ridiculously mature. He could teach even the most caring selfless adult much more about how to demonstrate their good thoughts and empathy without sanctimony or pity.

Long story short, Jared is boss
