Porty Dawn

As Autumn arrives I often get a notion at the weekend to get up before dawn and catch the sunrise. It rarely happens.

But this morning I managed it - and found myself at the beach at 5.45am. The spectacular "rosy-fingered-dawn" I was hoping for didn't materialise - a thin line burned orange for a few minutes but not the shot I was after. But I played nonetheless and enjoyed every minute.

A bit of a cliche shot, but I do find real satisfaction and peace from these long exposure pictures, a sense of standing with nature as it happens around you and through you.
