Sad Goodbye

It was less than a year ago that this wonderful family walked into our lives - and now we are already having to say goodbyes :(

When Kristi, Brett, and their kids came from Iowa to Essen on a temporary work contract, I was recruited to help them find housing and do other fun stuff - like register at government offices. Our families became fast friends - husbands and kids all getting along beautifully - so that we were soon meeting almost every Friday night for dinner and cards as well as taking day trips and holidays together. We've been through a pretty amazing nine months. But now, sadly, they're heading back to the States - sooner than expected.

Tonight was their "Farewell, Aufwiedersehen" party hosted by KettwigeFrau. The cake was made by our friend Emma - in the form of a suitcase with stickers representing all the countries they've visited this year.

We're going to miss them terribly.
