Friend or Foe?

This little snout moth came into my kitchen today. Since we have more than 250 native species it may be one of them. Some of their caterpillars attack leaves and roots of plants. Body length 10mm, wingspan 25mm.

A wet day. It was pouring this morning when I had to be outside. I had the opportunity of buying six cubic metres of old man pine firewood for a fraction of its usual price, because of the many trees brought down in the storm. To make way for it I had to move about two cubic metres of dry logs aside. I got pretty wet, but it wasn't cold. When the wood arrived I was so pleased with it. The man has cut nearly all of it to fit my stove. I will not have to spend much of next winter wielding the chainsaw.
