Hidden Shrines

One of the cool things about Japan, especially rural Japan, is that anywhere you go you're bound to stumble upon a small shrine of some sort.

On an impromptu adventure into the mountains with a friend, we spotted this hidden torii (gate). We followed the overgrown staircase to the shrine. The shrine was nothing special, but the view from the top of the stairs and the old gate were really cool.
