Four men and a big problem
One of those days. This evening the remains of my good friend Peter, who passed away on Wednesday morning, were removed from the funeral home to his church prior to the burial tomorrow morning. Left the office early. Got stuck in a traffic jam. Took a detour to avoid the worst of it and guess what. Yup! Ran up against this, blocking my way, which meant I had to double back and straight back into the traffic jam again. Just about made it in time.
And just what is this? do I hear you ask. Well all is not doom and gloom in the maritime life of Arklow. This is the fourth of these tender boats which have been built in the local yard. They are used for maintenance work on offshore windfarms all around the British Isles. The four guys had it attached on a tow rope thing at the back of a huge tractor and were trying to figure out how on earth's name they were going to get it moving and down to the dock side. The next trick I expect will be to lift it into the water as there is no slipway down where they were going.
Unfortunately I couldn't wait around to see what happened. I had a funeral to attend.
