Forever Young
On July 30th I told the story of Uncle Leroy and my Mother-in-Law with a picture of some spoons this young man had sent to his mom from England during the Second World War and shortly before he was killed in the crash of his plane.
This is a picture of him and other young men going off to war to fight for their country. Leroy is the farthest on the right in a squatting position. It is amazing how much he looks like my husband did at that age. I'm not sure why I am thinking about him (and family) so much lately. It might have something to do with the fact that my family members are scattering further and further afield and realizing how lucky I have been to be able to see all of my daughters grow to adulthood, make decisions, take responsibility, grow and mature. Leroy's mom never got to do that. And, in all of our minds, he is always that very young boy.
