Clean-up

The massive clean-up of storm damaged Zihuatanejo has begun. This view down Playa Principal shows the magnitude of the problem, at least for a seaside resort town like ours. Principal was hit the hardest by debris, as these piles of trash attest, but all four of Zihua’s beautiful beaches were affected by the huge storm that has generated attention in the international media (albeit, mostly for those stranded in Acapulco). We didn’t have to have a backhoe come in on Playa La Ropa to clear garbage like they were forced to here, but we have seen groups of school kids walking the beach with trash bags and all the hotels have been madly raking in front of their properties. It will take time, but the resiliency of these hard working people will shine through and our lovely beach community will undoubtably be ready for the hordes when they start arriving next month.
