Daddy-longlegs
Tipula oleracea
A cranefly commonly called a daddy-longlegs. These insects fly from April to October in the UK but are most abundant in Autumn. Their larvae (leatherjackets) are a serious crop pest.
Not a particularly loveable species, however the wings are quite striking and worth a look at in large.
