The Grand Opera House...

...opened on 11 January 1900 with a charity gala in aid of British soldiers fighting the Boer War in South Africa, closed in 1955 due to the popularity of TV.

Reopened by the Council in 1958 as Harrogate Theatre and still going strong. Various refurbishments over the years, but thankfully many of the original features have been retained.
