Bedlam in the wet

Our normally quiet street took on an air of chaos today as the rain poured down on a host of toiling men with trucks, cranes, diggers ... You name it. Some of them were replacing the street lighting - it's been distinctly Heath-Robinson for years - while in a sort of side-show some others were removing all the grass from one of the gardens.

There is pitch darkness out there tonight - will we find a hapless pedestrian down the hole they were digging when the dawn comes?
