Sleepless

One hour after midnight...the storm has moved on. The lightning show over the eastern half of the Metro area is spectacular. I'm hopeless at photographing lightning bolts so I just watch.

Not a creature inside the house is stirring, not a husband, dog, cat or the two big, smelly, visiting dogs. It's just me, wrapped in the coziness of the dark and humid porch. Just me...and my camera. The humidity is so dense that the fogged up lens needs to be wiped between shots of the backlit raindrops on the window.

I take a few while holding steady and then realize it's prettier when I move the lens slowly from side to side. I do this for about fifty shots, each one looks different.

It's 2:00 am. Now I'm sleepy. I'll download and look at them in the morning.

Yawn.
