The Kelpies

‘The Kelpies’ are the creation of Glasgow-based artist Andy Scott and are under construction in Falkirk and are due to be completed next month. They will stand 30 metres tall. In the meantime, a pair of three metre tall kelpie models are on show in Horsecross Plaza in Perth from September 16 to 22.

If you enlarge the photo, and you look really closely, you might just see two tiny people standing at the base of the kelpie on the right – looking up.

The kelpie is a supernatural water horse from Celtic folklore that is believed to haunt the rivers and lochs of Scotland and Ireland.
